|Detailed Job Description:
The Director, Sales Finance will be responsible for leading the Sales finance team to provide COT/customer specific financial analysis, reporting, and sales & trade spend management. This individual will work with the VP of Finance, VP Revenue Growth Management, eCommerce Team & the Field Sales Team to refine current reporting models and analyses as well as put in place new reports and analytical tools to help bring the business to the next level of success in the marketplace. This position will report to the VP of Finance and work directly with all levels of the team. This individual must have a command of all financial aspects of trade management, pricing, product costs, trade spending, and overhead expenses.
Acting as financial lead supporting sales team in driving top-line growth profitably
Analyze potential product pricing and costing scenarios for customer specific current and new business opportunities.
Act as single point of contact on sales related KPis and trade spend.
Partner with Sales, Revenue Growth Management, Customer Marketing and Cat Management groups to support and roll out ROI models and best practices to evaluate the effectiveness of promotional activities to drive growth.
Provide quarterly customer P&L by Product Line and insights to financial performance; provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
Develop business models that support the assessment and underlying valuation of potential opportunities as relate to in-store opportunities.
Proactive identification and analysis of business issues and opportunities, including recommendations for future actions.
Serve as point of contact for Demand Planning on integrated business planning process; interpret consumption data and trends to influence sales forecasting.
Tracking performance against strategic initiatives; partnering with the Commercial Leads on updating the strategic plan.
Contribute significantly to the annual planning and budgeting process and financial forecasting of monthly and full year results.
Manage the .com P&L.
Manage the Risk & Opportunity process for Sales, Trade Spend & Sales Cost Center
Review monthly financial forecasts for accuracy and analyze monthly operating results. Summarize variances vs budget & forecast, highlight problem areas and trends; recommend operational & financial improvements including revenue optimization and cost reconfiguration.
Design and maintain various templates for historical financial data analysis
Deliver sound financial information to business team, including consumption trends, key performance measures and in-depth cause and effect analysis on a variety of complex financial/business/operating issues
Provide insight into monthly and annual gross sales and marketing spend projections
Support month and year-end close, working closely with VP Finance
Design, develop and maintain division reporting tools to drive accountability
Trade Spending & Broker Commissions
Work with Sales to ensure trade programs are created, maintained and closed out in an accurate & timely fashion to support RGM ROI initiatives.
Manage trade spending deduction team to insure appropriate processes and controls are in place to clear deductions, collect invalid deductions and manage aging
Provide insight and support to EVP of Sales on all broker commission matters
B.S. in Finance or Accounting is required. MBA is a plus
CPG or Food Industry experience within Sales Finance required
7-10 years of Commercial analytical experience
Experience leading a team required
Knowledge of pricing, trade spend management and cost analysis techniques
CPA with Big four background preferred
Strong analytical and advanced modeling skills in Excel
Outstanding PC skills (Excel, PowerPoint, & Word)
Demonstrated ability to manage projects, including the ability to lead, facilitate, and organize
Skilled in interpreting and managing data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of JD Edwards a plus
Demonstrates persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles that impact goal achievement
Displays a drive, commitment and sense of urgency that inspires others to achieve results
Shows ability to build strong working relationships
