Detailed Job Description:
The primary purpose of the Seafood Department Manager is to supervise the selection, pricing, preparation and promotion of designated products in the defined area. The Department Manager is responsible for managing department inventory, in-stock levels, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor and other operational processes of the department to company standards.
Duties and responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Observe all store rules and company policies;
Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe the company dress code; must wear an approved hat or hair net;
Observe shift operating hours at all times, as scheduled or assigned by store manager;
Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil health code regulations;
Ensure compliance with all state, county and local weights and measures laws and labeling requirements;
Follow approved procedures for receiving product, price marking and restocking to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation;
Check and verify seafood department receiving to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered; check products for quality, count, and condition;
Take products to preparation or storage area including refrigerated storage boxes;
Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods;
Comply with safety policies and procedures;
Have a staff development program;
Responsible for ensuring that all department personnel are trained in the storeâs method of performing department activities and functions;
Maintain good communication in the store and throughout the organization;
Control excessive use of utilities and water and observe sound conservation practices;
Perform other duties and assignments as directed;
Ensure favorable department image to customers by maintaining a clean, attractive and friendly department;
